Antec

Antec Controls, operating under the Price Industries group of companies designs and manufactures a diverse product line of high performance airflow control solutions for laboratories, operating rooms, isolation rooms, pharmacies and critical space retrofits. With their current location on the Raleigh campus no longer serving their needs, the purchase of the former Polar Windows building at the corner of Raleigh Street and Kimberly Avenue by Price offered a needed expansion of the campus and an ideal new home for Antec. The extensive renovation and reconfiguration of the Polar Windows facility adds nearly 28,000 square feet of manufacturing space and over 12,000 square feet of office area for their use. The central third of the existing precast structure was demolished to make way for a two storey newly constructed addition. Offices are stacked on top of manufacturing and common office spaces with a feature double height lounge and open meeting area that enjoys ample natural light by way of a corner glass curtain wall. The program is rounded out with a training room and product demonstration labs occupying the front portion of the former loading dock.

Our working relationship with Price Industries continued when they approached us with the possibility of purchasing the Polar Windows office and warehouse building in 2021. Our initial feasibility and code compliance studies allowed their leadership to determine how best to reconfigure the Raleigh campus with the additional space. Once the determination was made that Antec would be the occupant we facilitated collaboration between their leadership, Price’s internal design team, our team of engineering consultants and construction manager PCL to develop a facility that would meet the established functional and schedule requirements of the project. The renovated facility was turned over to Antec for occupation at the end of 2025.

“The consultants we use on projects need to be an extension of our company and hold true to the same core values and beliefs; 701 is exactly that. Acting as the primary consultant, Kevin ensured the project ran smoothly and was my point person for any design related questions. He is a valued member in all of our projects, offers invaluable insight and is an absolute pleasure to work with.”
